10 Secrets To Look Great In Wedding Photos & Video Anyone can be more photogenic with a little practice, all you need to do is follow these simple tips.1) Always try to angle your shoulders at a 45 degree angle to the camera. It is amazing how much thinner and elegant you will look. This is a top secret of the professional models. 2) Put your weight more on your back foot, then point the toe of your front foot toward the camera. Even if we can't see your feet, it will make you appear slimmer and more graceful. 3) You don't always have to look directly at the camera lens. This was the trick of Elle Macpherson and Princess Diana. Look just slightly above the lens, it lets you relax in front of the camera. 4) Try to relax your hands, and bend your fingers a little at every joint. Don't have your hands in fists, or completely flat. If you bring your hands together, lay one lightly on top of the other. 5) Learn to smile a three quarter smile, smiling too big makes your eyes look small and thin. A three quarter smile gives you a beautiful, pleasant expression without distorting your cheeks and eyes. 6) Try to relax your forehead and think of someone or something you love. You don't want to wrinkle your forehead, raise your eyebrows or open your eyes wide. Your eyes show emotions, let them show "you". 7) Find 3 or 4 smiles that you like and practice in front of a mirror before your big day. Try not to use one smile for all your poses. It's much better to change it up, you will be more natural in your photos, and not be restricted in your look. You don't want to look the same in every photo. 8) Don't pull your elbows in toward your body, it makes you look wider than you are. try to let a a small space show between your arms and your waist. This will make your waist much look smaller. 9) When sitting in a chair, lean forward slightly toward the camera, it makes your stomach less prominent and also makes you look more involved and attentive. 10) Try to consciously relax your shoulders. Your neck will look elegantly longer, if you even slightly tighten your shoulders, you can look tense and uncomfortable. Sometimes they eat in a back room, some distance away from the reception room, or even on another level of the hotel. The reception venue is only doing what they think is best, by giving the staff some space away from the guests to eat their dinner in peace, but the outcome can be missed footage and photos. You want your photographer and videographer as close as possible, so they can capture any spur of the moment events. Most of the specialist reception centres are aware of the problems this creates and automatically seat all the crew together in the reception room and serve them early. If the crew are seated elsewhere, and there is a friend or relative as the MC, with so much on their mind they may forget to tell the photographer and videographer that something is about to start, or they have changed the schedule at the last minute. This could spell disaster and the start of your Speeches, Entertainment, Bridal Waltz etc could be missed. Many couples don't even know that this happens and can easily forget to allocate a table inside the reception room for the staff. As a cameraman of over 1000 weddings, I can safely say that sometimes things don't go to plan, and the crew don't get to eat when they are supposed to. Duty calls, the speeches, bridal waltz or the floor show are often on when meals are served. The reception venue is not usually aware that there is a conflict. Many times they serve the staff last, which means that something has already started and the crew are working by the time meals arrive. Resulting in a meal that sits on the table for a while, then gets cleared before the videographer or photographer are free and can walk to the secluded room and eat. I recommend that you seat your crew inside the room, and instruct the reception venue to serve them early. This will avoid any conflicts and ensure the meals you have paid for don't go to waste. Most videographers and photographers will stay on the action as much as possible and be aware of upcoming events, but it does occur that communication between the MC and the other staff is not the best, as the MC usually has is/her hands full just running the event. If the camera crew are away in a back room or downstairs eating and are not informed of a change in upcoming events, footage and photos can be compromised. Sometimes it's just the guests dancing, but at worst it could be your dads speech or your bridal waltz. Please put your photographer and videographer in the room to eat, and have them served early, that way they can stay on the action at all times. Some things to ponder.... Ta ta for now... What Are 'Soft Copies'? Most cameras that you buy today are HD or high definition. This means that the quality is about double that of an older SD or standard definition cameras. In ten or twenty years time, when you are showing your wedding video to your kids, you want the quality to be similar to what they are used to seeing on TV. Video formats are changing at remarkable rate, and by that time it's likely that 3D television or an even higher standard of definition is going to be the norm. There are a few ways of keeping your edited wedding video in HD for future use, some would say Blu-Ray is the way to go, but I have heard that it is not going to be around for long. It looks like it will be replaced by the "soft copy" or media file direct from the editing system. What does all this mean? As many homes in australia get more tech savvy, people are buying media centres, or in plain english, a hard disk drive that stores all your media (songs, movies, TV show recordings, etc). These connect directly to your TV and surround sound and give you access on demand to your files. The major benefit is that these require no discs or external computer to operate. You can hook up a USB drive with your super high quality wedding video to the media centre and store it directly. This eliminates the need for compression to disc, which, just as it sounds, decreases the quality. The "soft copy" is often hard to extract once the data is burnt in DVD or Blu-Ray format. I recommend that you research around and find a company that will give you this "soft copy" on a USB drive or in data disc format. In the future, DVD and Blu-ray discs may just go the same way that Cassettes and VHS tapes have. Some things to ponder... Ta ta for now...
